Our
site NannyNet.co.uk was launched in September 2003 as a meeting
point for nannies and childcare professionals.
Being a childcare worker can sometimes be a lonely life and
so it's useful to have somewhere to meet other workers and
exchange views and ideas.
The site has a registration system - anybody can view the
messages but you have to be registered to post messages. Registration
involves filling in an online form and responding to a verification
email.
The site also serves as a useful resource for families looking
for childcare, as the nannies can place details about themselves
on the site.
Families
can also place adverts on the site with their childcare requirements
and nannies can respond - either on the site itself or using
the site's private message system.
The website uses a PHP bulletin board system which has a
MySQL database as the back end.
Essentially a sophisticated message board system, the site
quickly proved popular. Within a few weeks of launch there
were over 100 subscribers and it is still growing.
