ASP is a powerful server-based technology from Microsoft allowing the creation of dynamic web sites. As more and more of the web's servers use Microsoft software to control them, so ASP becomes more popular.

The functionality of ASP is similar to the PHP/MySQL combination, but being Microsoft based its interfaces with Microsoft applications such as Access and Excel are very well defined and established. Thus if you already have a Microsoft Access based system that needs to be integrated with the web, ASP is often the most sensible choice.

Our ASP work has included a large business gifts catalogue for a company supplying international names such as BP and Morgan Lovell. We introduced a series of web sites based on their existing Access product database and worked to transfer it to the more powerful SQL Server 7.
