Perl is one of the oldest web programming languages,
in fact it began well before the World Wide Web was even conceived.
Perticularly good at data and string manipulation, it has
become the most popular of web programming languages mainly
because of the number of hosts that support it - nearly every
host service has Perl capability.
Often the terms Perl and CGI are used to describe
the same thing. They often are, but to be precise CGI
stands for Common Gateway Interface - a system for adding
interactive elements to web sites. CGI programs are normally
(but not always) written in Perl, which itself has been described
as the "duct tape" of the internet!

We have been using Perl since 1998, so we have a good understanding
of its strengths and limitations.
And if you don't need us to create programs for you,
there are many sites listing free Perl scripts which we can
install and set up for you. Sometimes we can modify these
too (depending on licence conditions).
Check out the projects
area for web programming projects we have completed, including
some in Perl.
